Purpose of the Role

The Associate will work alongside Cain International’s investment team to oversee all aspects of Cain’s existing East Coast portfolio and to assist in the underwriting of new pipeline opportunities. Cain’s existing portfolio is comprised of residential, commercial, hospitality and land located across New York, Boston, Miami and Fort Lauderdale. The Associate will be responsible for and involved in deal underwriting, financial modeling, market research, investment due diligence and asset management at all stages of an investment with a focus on development.

Interested candidates should have experience in real estate and/or capital markets and be highly motivated with excellent analytical and communication skills.



Responsibilities

  • Responsible for and involved in deal underwriting, financial modelling, market research, investment due diligence, and asset management at all stages of an investment.
  • Create and maintain cash flow valuation models for both existing and new investments including hotel, office, residential (for sale and multifamily) etc.
  • Asset management function responsibilities include assisting to deliver business plans, preparing coherent and accurate scenario analysis, preparing and reviewing draws and other reporting requirements.
  • Assists in maximizing the value and performance of a portfolio of existing hotels investments including analyzing financial data, reporting on asset performance, and supporting strategic decisions related to revenue, expenses, and capital investments.
  • Coordinate with existing lenders on all aspects of loan monitoring including supporting in requested extensions, modifications and ongoing reporting.
  • Help oversee the development and renovation process including assisting with project execution, including programming, design, entitlements, financing, construction, and closeout.
  • Compile investment committee memos for new investment opportunities, both equity and debt.
  • Assist in deal screening efforts.
  • Analyze and report on market trends impacting specific investments.
  • Assist with various major transactions, such as construction financing, refinancing’s, recapitalization, or sales processes, including assembling and updating due diligence materials, closing statement reviews, and maintain centralized access for materials.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of real estate industry, hospitality, or investment banking experience.
  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree with a major in real estate, economics, hospitality, or finance preferred.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills with advanced knowledge of Excel are required.
  • Sound understanding of economic and investment theory and practices.
  • Superior writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to gather, organize, coordinate, and interpret data from disparate sources.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented individual with a commitment to providing a high-quality work product.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and to proactively seek new responsibilities.
