Sticky Mango selects Cain’s Islington Square for third site

London, 29 August 2023: Cain International (‘Cain’), the privately held investment firm, has agreed a letting to contemporary South-East Asian concept Sticky Mango at its mixed-use destination, Islington Square.

Brokered by specialist leisure property agency Shelley Sandzer, the 2,219 sq. ft. unit will be located next to Megan’s, Third Space, and The King’s Head Theatre, and is set to open in September. Sticky Mango, which specialises in South-East Asian cuisine in an ornate setting, has selected Islington Square to open its third location in London, following the recently opened flagship restaurant in Tower Bridge.

Headed up by Chef Patron Peter Lloyd, Sticky Mango will serve signature dishes such as Thai Green Papaya Salad, Malaysian Chicken Curry Puffs, and Singapore Chilli Lobster. A refined A La Carte menu will sit alongside a sharing-style tasting menu. The restaurant has been designed by its in-house team, boasting elaborate décor throughout, and will join the destination’s line-up of independent restaurants such as Omnom and Bewliehill.

Peter Lloyd, Director of Sticky Mango, commented on the signing: “Sticky Mango has experienced huge success at the Waterloo site, and following our recent opening in Tower Bridge, we are so pleased to be expanding our portfolio even further and introduce our luxury gastronomic haven to Islington. Our dining offer will elevate the F&B line-up at the destination, and we look forward to welcoming a new community to experience our vibrant dishes and flavours.”

Robert van Vliet, Vice President for Asset Management at Cain International, said: “With a strong leisure, retail, and F&B line-up, we’re delighted to add Sticky Mango to the mix. This exciting brand’s decision to open only its third restaurant here demonstrates Islington Square’s status as one of London’s most vibrant eat, drink, and play destinations.”

Ted Schama, Joint Managing Partner at Shelley Sandzer, also said: “Islington Square presents a modern and flexible mixed-use space that everyone can enjoy, rich in independent retail and F&B. Sticky Mango delivers a unique and distinctive offer and will serve the strong catchment of residents and office workers in the area. This deal once again reflects our expertise in securing dynamic F&B operators on behalf of engaged landlords across the capital, and we’re proud to play a part in not only the growth of Sticky Mango but the evolution of Islington Square as a thriving retail and leisure destination.”

This signing of Sticky Mango at Islington Square also follows the news that Shelley Sandzer secured a flagship site for the plant-based concept, Holy Carrot, at 156 Portobello Road in an off-market deal.
