John joined Cain International in 2014. He is responsible for helping to build the firm’s franchise, primarily focusing on structured debt within the UK, US and Europe. John has over 30 years of experience in real estate debt lending and has been involved in underwriting tens of billions in debt transactions.
John’s previous roles include director in the global real estate and infrastructure businesses at Guggenheim Investments, the global asset management and investment advisory division of Guggenheim Partners. Before that, he was head of UK real estate finance at Landesbank Baden-Wurttemberg (LBBW), where he oversaw the bank’s re-entry into the UK lending market and helped arrange several large bilateral loans, a significant change from the bank’s previous strategy of pursuing largely participative relationships.
Prior to LBBW, he was a senior director at Santander UK where he helped create a new corporate real estate lending business with a book approaching £3bn in commitments. John held positions at Deutsche Postbank London and Bank of Scotland before joining Santander UK.
John is a qualified Football Association (FA) coach and manages a local girls’ under-18 team for Flitwick Eagles FC, an accredited FA partner club and Silver Arsenal FC partner in the Bedfordshire League.
